Loaded Fries

Bacon Cheese Fries

Bacon cheese fries are my go-to if I want to indulge in a Five Guys or a Shake Shack dirty burger. I wanted to try and recreate a recipe that would still be tasty and not completely blow healthy eating plans out the window. This was my concoction! Cheesy airfryer chips with melted cheese, bacon bits and spicy mayo. At under 400 calories per portion, how could you say no?

Ingredients for Sauce

  • 1 heaped tsp mayo

  • 1 heaped tsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp hot sauce

Ingredients for Fries

  • 1/4 white onion (finely diced)

  • 100g bacon bits

  • 3 large white potatoes (peeled & cut into chips)

  • olive oil spray

  • 50g grated cheddar cheese

  • Fresh chives (for garnish)

  • 1 sliced spring onion

Method

  1. Mix together sauce ingredients and set aside in fridge until needed.

  2. Preheat your airfryer to 200 Celcius (or oven).

  3. Fry in a small pan the onion and bacon bits (in no oil as bacon will release fat) until desired crispiness. Take off the heat and set aside.

  4. Place your cut chips into a microwave proof bowl and microwave for 7 minutes.

  5. Once out of microwave season with some salt and spray a few times with some oil spray and place in roughly and even layer in the airfryer. Cook for 15-20 mins (tossing every 5 mins or so and spraying with a little more oil, if needed).

  6. Get an oven proof dish and place cooked fries in the dish. Sprinkle over the bacon and onion mix. Add the cheddar cheese.

  7. Place fries under the grill for about 5-7 minutes (or until cheese is melted and bubbling).

  8. Sprinkle with sliced onion and chives. Dollop over the spicy mayo and serve immediately.
